Smartfella
Internet Services Announces New Mailrover System
Salt Lake
City, UT., December 15, 2001: "New Mailrover System Eats Viruses
& Spam for Lunch."
Smartfella
Internet Services announced today that it's taking virus and spam protection
to a whole new level with it's new Mailrover Anti-Virus/Anti-Spam Email
System.
"The
Internet, just like the rest of the world, is not a perfectly safe place
to visit. If you download files or receive e-mail from the Internet,
there's a chance that your computer could become infected with a virus,"
said Dennis Dutson, President of Smartfella Internet Services.
SFI wants
to do everything possible to ensure that their customer's e-mail experience
is safe, trouble-free, reliable, and effective. Viruses are malicious
programs that invade your computer. A virus is designed to copy itself,
over and over and over. This is typically referred to as an infection,
because -- like real biological viruses -- such programs need the aid
of "hosts" to spread. Your computer acts as a host for the
infecting viruses, which alter, damage, or delete your files, and may
even damage your computer's operating system.
SFI's new
MailRover Spam and Virus Sniffer provides the latest technology to protect
their subscribers from the river of viruses and spam infecting the 'Net.
MailRover builds a virtual "mailfence" that protects our valued
subscribers through a sophisticated server-based system. MailRover automatically
sniffs out spam and viruses before they ever hit your e-mail box. Plus,
MailRover provides true, real-time automated updates of the latest anti-virus
rules and engines.
More than
53,000 virus threats exist today, according to the McAfee AVERT Virus
Information Library. Over half of all viruses come from e-mail attachments.
The need to monitor e-mail messages for dangerous, offensive or confidential
content grows every day. The most deadly viruses, able to cripple your
e-mail system in minutes, are distributed worldwide via e-mail in a
matter of hours. When left defenseless, e-mail viruses can wreak havoc
on your computer and your life.
Using the
updated anti-virus rules from the MailRover Logistics and Operations
Center, the MailRover Server identifies infected messages and diverts
them to its anti-virus module, which disinfects them using the Symantec
AntiVirus(tm) Engine. Once the clean messages are returned, they are
sent on to the customer, along with a notification indicating that they
have been disinfected.
In addition,
SFI's customizable MailRover Web Client lets end-users view a virtual
mailbox containing suspected spam. MailRover's "Doghouse Database"
is designed to hold suspected spam that is removed from a user's legitimate
email for a discrete time period. The database is also a fail-safe for
storing email that should not have been removed.
"SFI
is dedicated to defending their subscribers against spam and viruses
with the most reliable watchdog in the industry: MailRover. MailRover
delivers the best spam and virus protection in the industry, giving
SFI subscribers the peace of mind they deserve," stated Dutson.
